Q:What is the difference between this stanley chisel set and the bailey chisel set from stanley?
by|Jan 1, 2022

Answer This Question
A: This set is simply better
by|Nov 8, 2023
A: Minus the appearance the most noticeable difference is the Bailey's are designed tang/handle and the Sweetheart's are designed with a socket type handle.
by|Jan 4, 2022
A: In the socket chisel the chisel comes out of the socket and is made to do that to replace the handle or install a longer one. The Bailey chisels are tang chisels which are all one piece and do not come apart!! I have found that the tang chisels are harder to use on precise work,
by|Jan 3, 2022
A: I have this set and love them. Higher quality, and these are socket chisels, so the handle detaches from the blade. The Baileys are not. Baileys have a fatter handle, and you’re stuck with that handle if it chips/breaks.
by|Jan 3, 2022
A: The Stanley SW sets are socket mount while the Bailey sets have tang mounted handles. Price point is another difference with Bailey being roughly 50-60% of the SW's. The Bailey's are designed to take a hammer blow, similar to my FatMax chisels which take lots of abuse. I do not strike the SW's. When properly sharpened both will do the same task with similar effort. Aesthetically, I like using the SW's.

Answer This Question
A: if you order it to a store you might be able to.
by|Jan 29, 2021
A: I'm not sure. You need to check with the customer service desk in the store. The set is not carried in the store and I ordered my set (great set of chisels) on-line. I don't believe there is a way to get the military discount on-line orders

Q:The package says,” Made in England” “ With global materials”. Where, specifically, is the steel from?

Answer This Question
A: It is unclear where the components for the steel used to manufacture these chisels originates. I suspect the components come from lots of places. The steel allegedly is British.
What's important is that this is a high-carbon, chrome steel which results in a very good chisel. While there are "better" chisels on the market, you will pay a premium price. The Sweetheart 750 series chisels get very good reviews, are well made and are an excellent value. They arrive with a fairly flat back and need just a quick touch-up to ready to use.
by|Jul 27, 2019
A: They claim to be made in England. But there is zero evidence that Stanley make any tools in the country. Their Sheffield factory is closed and abandoned.

A: Stanley told me that information is proprietary. And the don’t have manufacturing in the UK. So, Chinese?

Q:Are these chisels actual Imperial sizes?

Answer This Question
A: yes
by|Oct 24, 2018
A: Yes. They measure exactly corresponding to the indicated width.
by|Oct 8, 2019
A: Short answer is yes. I took a digital caliper to my set and 2 of the chisels (the 1/8 and 1/4) were exact to a thousand of an inch. The rest were very close. For instance, the 3/4" chisel measured .756 inches 0.006 of an inch wider. The only chisel that seemed off was the 3/8" it was 0.019 inches larger than it should be (still less than a 32nd of an inch) and exactly 10mm. These are quality cabinet making grade chisels that take and hold an edge. Hope this helps.
by|Feb 22, 2023
A: Yes, this set includes the following sizes: 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 1, and 1-1/4 chisels and a leather pouch.
by|Oct 18, 2018
A: No. Mine were US standard sizes, not sure if that varies from imperial measurement.
