Q:Can I add this when filling up a 7.5 gallon generator tank with gas before using the generator? When turning off the gas shut-off valve I want to make sure that whatever fuel is still in the engine/carburetor has Stabilizer in it.

Answer This Question

A:  You sure can! This is a good method to stabilize all the fuel in the tank and the system.

A:  I my self add the stabilizer to a gas can and then to my Honda generator only because I never fully run the generator out of gas. This way the stabilizer is mixed up and I run the generator, shut it down and then shut off the gas line. No problem for years.

A:  I use this with ethanol-free gas in my generator, boat, lawn mower and in my spare gas tanks. I don't see why you can't add it to your tank before using it, but, if you are going to add gas to your generator I would personally start it with this in your gas and run the generator for 30-45 min to cycle it through the lines and then run the generator regularly after that.

Q:I always use stabilizer in gas for my small engines. The last time I was looking at a bottle I noticed it said "effective in all ethanol blended fuels." I always use non-ethanol fuel though. Is there any benefit using this in non-ethanol fuel?

          Answer This Question

A:  Yes. All gasoline whether it contains ethanol or not will form gums which will stop up jets in carburetors. Fuel stabilize prevents this.

A:  Yes. Non-ethanol fuel is also affected by oxidation, which ultimately makes fuel go stale. Stabilizing the fuel keeps this from happening for an extended period of time. STA-BIL Brand is effective in all ethanol blended fuels -including non-ethanol.

A:  You should be able to stabilize whatever fuel is left over in the gas can. Simply add about half an ounce per gallon or your best estimate depending on how much fuel is left. Hope this helps!

A:  Yes, you can add Stabil. A weed eater would only need an ounce of Stabil, then start it and run it a few minutes.

A:  Hi Manbeing, You can either pre-mix it when you combine your oil-gas or pour it directly into the gas tanks. As instructed by Sta-Bil, run the engine for 5 minutes after adding product to treat the entire fuel system.

A:  Are you saying that this is happened while being stored at your place or at the store? In any case a large temperature variance or variances will throw some discoloration on the product especially if it’s not been used after two years. So if you’ve had it for longer than two years I would toss the bottle and get a new one perhaps a smaller size.

                    by|Dec 14, 2020

A:  If you have had it for an extended period of time (years), I would simply discard it and purchase a new bottle.

A:  Hi Dunkin. I add a full ounce of this product to a 2 1/2 gallon full container of gas. When I’m storing my lawn equipment for the winter, I put the same amount in the gas tank about a quarter full of gas and run it down as low as I can before a storage. The product is really friendly so you don’t have to be afraid adding too much. And if you have two cycle stuff you can do the same thing as well. This is a great product and you’ll never go wrong. Most of my stuff I’ve had now for over 5 years and theyrun like champs because Sta-Bil made it possible.

A:  1 oz treats 2.5 gallons. there is a measuring volume on the bottle so you can measure with the bottle and pour directly into your gas tank. Very easy and quick.

A:  Definitely. It is used to preserve gasoline. It doesn’t matter where the gasoline is used. Remember that it’s ability to prevent deterioration of the gasoline is not infinite. Even doubling the dosage (as recommended by Stabil) I would not rely on the gasoline after about nine months. Rotate, use it in your car and start with a fresh batch.

A:  I am not familiar with “True Fuel “ .I would hesitate using any additive along with Stabil. Could be OK but why experiment. Second question: I use Stabil year round for gasoline to be used in my garden tractor, and all my small engines. It lengthens it’s shelf life, and I’m assured the entire fuel system is protected. To only protect the gasoline in the gas tank is not preventing deterioration in the lines, injectors, or carburetor. If you choose to use this method make sure the Stabil is thoroughly mixed with the fuel and run the engine for five or ten minutes to make certain that treated fuel is entering the entire fuel system.

A:  Since there's no ethanol in TruFuel, there's no use in adding Stabil to it. I only add Stabil to fuel with ethanol because ethanol destroys rubber used in carbs and injectors.
