A: The preferred way would be to clean the area first and then apply the seal. It also depends on how active the bleeding is and how much buildup there is. There is a reason why you are bleeding and that is why you should clean the area first.
A: Yes. Some will bleed off. But, one of its main jobs is to prevent disease created by destructive insects.

A: According to their website, yes.
A: The manufacturer recommends this product for sealing the inside of pots, so I would think using it on a planter is also safe.
A: Yes to seal where you have cut but that is the only use so be careful not to get the spray all over the rest of the plant.
A: Hi Mark, thank you for the inquiry regarding our Spectracide Pruning Seal 13 oz Waterproof Outdoor Sealant Aerosol. You can use on the rose bush just do not let the overspray get onto the flowers. Please contact us at 1-800-917-5438 or email us at youropinioncounts@spectrumbrands.com so that we may better assist you.
A: yes
A: I used this on a rose bush last year, it had some kind disease that was causing the stems to turn black. It was coming back to life in the fall. Don’t know if this helps or not, but everything I read said it was because I didn’t use this stuff when I trimmed it. I’ve never had this problem before.
A: It says small shrubs so I would use it. I would make sure you only spray the end and not the rest of the stem/branch.
A: Per the SDS, Spectracide Pruning Seal contains an Asphalt compound, and Mineral Spirits (which I'd surmise keeps the asphalt in suspension), some Xylene (a fast-drying agent / solvent) and Isobutane and Propane (propellants to make the aerosol spray). So, I'd guess Mineral Spirits would probably dissolve the hardened Pruning Seal. It's also possible that one of those spray cleaners that contain Orange oil would work... lightly saturate a clean white terry cloth... (test in an inconspicuous spot first). But here's another suggestion: Try a small amount of 'odorless' mineral spirits and lightly saturate a white terrycloth to rub the spots off. Wear vinyl gloves to keep the mineral spirits off your skin and eye protection. Test in an inconspicuous area first. Rub in one direction (with the 'grain' of the siding) and keep turning the rag to a clean part to avoid smearing the tar-like substance over a wider area. [the white cloth, even an old T-shirt, will help you know which parts of the rag are getting dirty as you work]. Hopefully your siding is not heavily weathered and 'chalky' (oxidized from sun exposure) because cleaning it this or any other way will leave it 'shiny' and sorta 'like new' and it will no longer match the surrounding weathered siding. Once all the tar spot(s) is/are removed, suggest using another rag soaked with a fairly strong solution of water and Dawn liquid dish detergent to clean away the mineral spirits residue. Finish by rinsing with just clean water. Good luck -- I hope this works! [P.S. Be sure you use pure "Mineral Spirits" and NOT Paint Thinner. Paint thinner would possibly dissolve the vinyl plastic.]
A: Thank you for your question. Our product is asphalt based and the only products we have found that will remove it is an industrial degreaser or paint thinner. Please keep in mind that these products may however cause additional damage to your vinyl siding.
A: Scotes outdoor cleaner plus oxiclean is my pick. There are others but seem to harsh. As always try a small spot to make sure it doesn't have a negative effect.
A: No. The SDS (MSDS) for Spectracide Pruning Seal is available on the homedepot.com product page for this spray sealant (basically, it appears to be an asphalt compound with a mineral spirits carrier and some Xylene quick-drying agent). Flex Seal, on the other hand, is a liquid rubber of some kind, with toluene and some aliphatic petroleum distillates, etc. (SDS is at https://sdsinventory.com/substances/accessSDS/SDS-101102-581b5448a15476.26351891 ). I wouldn't say that Flex Seal is necessarily a suitable material for sealing cuts or wounds on trees. Being 'rubber' it would also tend to trap moisture underneath for a Long time and that might not be good for the tree.
A: no it is a totally different product
A: Thank you for your question. No, this isn't the same as Flex Seal.
A: Thank you for your question. No, we do not manufacture an extension pole.
A: Homedepot.com sells an accessory that attaches to an extension pole (search for 314616562 ) This device snaps onto the round collar at the top of the spray can... but it will only fit certain size cans; some reviewers say it won't work with all brands of wasp & hornet spray, for instance. There are other similar devices on the market which utilize an adjustable band clamp to hold the can; search for "Aerosol Spray Can Extension Pole Adapter"
A: no, get a ladder.
A: Thank you for your question. Yes, the product can be used when pruning rose bushes. Just be sure not to get the spray on the roses.
A: Yes. That’s what I bought it for.
A: Thank you for your question. Yes, the product can be applied. Just be sure to allow at least 18 hours for drying.
A: There are several other good products that will better serve you for the pressure treated lumber use. I would do more research before using this product.
A: If the tree is a type that tends to grow new 'sprouts' around the cut-off limb ... this pruning seal will not typically prevent that. So, it will be necessary to cut those regrowth twigs off each Fall or winter to stop them from turning into new branches. However, it is VERY important -- when removing a limb -- to avoid cutting off or into the 'Branch Collar' so the wound will heal faster and properly. https://www.thedailygarden.us/garden-word-of-the-day/branch-collar
A: Only if you make sure you cover the cut 100% as any area left bare will produce other growth.
A: Thank you for your question. The product will not prevent new growth; however it will prevent insects and disease from entering the area.
A: Every HD that I've been to has it in stock. If your local store doesn't have it, they can order it. Or, buy it online and have it shipped to you. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Spectracide-Pruning-Seal-13-oz-Waterproof-Outdoor-Sealant-Aerosol-HG-69000-4/100352315
