A:  We're much more comfortable suggesting "indoor or outdoor under cover." It's metal and over time, the protective finish will wear down / off. If exposed to outdoor elements (rain and humidity) it will start to rust over time.

A:  no backing - directly on the wall. Use 2 black screws/nails. The black blends in. I used 2 screws with black tops. Can't see them.
