A: Hi WizeOne, thank you for your message. We want to make sure we address your question. The LSTA strap can have a one time field bend for a max 12/12 roof pitch; the detail for this can be found on our website www.strongtie.com under the installation pictures for the LSTA straps. A: Hi Pete, thank you for your message. This is Ricardo with Simpson Strong-Tie. Unfortunately, we do not have a wraparound strap option. Listed tension values for straps assume the strap to be completely straight for loads to apply. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

Q:What's the difference between this and the MSTA18?

Answer This Question
A: Hello, this is McKenzie with Simpson Strong-Tie. The LSTA is made from 20 gauge steel where the MSTA is made from 18 gauge steel. The MSTA in the same length as the LSTA carries more tension load resistance. 'L' = light duty; 'M' = medium duty.

Q:Would these work as floor joist bridging for 2 x 6

Answer This Question
A: Hi Gary, thank you for your message. This is Ricardo with Simpson Strong-Tie. I would not recommend using an LSTA for joist bridging as it is only rated in tension and cannot be field bent. Unfortunately, there is no bridging connector for 2x6 joist. Minimum size would be 2x8. For a 2x6 joist blocking would need to be specified the EOR. Q:To help keep the deck from swaying after the decking is installed , I would like to add an "X" brace by adding flat strapping on the top of the joists before installing the decking, do you have a 60 foot roll of 20 ga or 16ga strapping for this purpose?

A: Hi Mike, this is Colin from Simpson Strong-Tie. We have not evaluated or tested our galvanized coil straps for this condition. Additionally, we do not have an alternative, tested product to recommend that would achieve your goal in this application. We would recommend contacting a local design professional for further evaluation and to determine the appropriate solution. If you have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

Answer This Question
A: I don’t think so. They are a bit thick and would need a hack saw
by|Mar 3, 2020
A: Yes, they can be cut with tin snips. I trimmed one down to use on a narrow RV screen door. It wasn't easy and my snips are sharp. I have also cut these with small metal cutoff wheels mounted in a drill.

A: The LSTA18 strap is intended for wood-to-wood applications. It has an allowable tension load of 1235 lbs. if connecting Douglas Fir or Southern Pine members, or 1110 lbs. if connecting Spruce-Pine-Fir or Hem Fir members. It requires a quantity of 14 - 10d common nails (0.148" diameter x 3" long). 10dx1 1/2" nails may be substituted for the 10d common nails at full capacity except when installing the strap over sheathing. Thank you!
