A:  Yes, absolutely. PEX fittings are definitely NOT friction fit only. Absent the compressed ring, the connection would likely leak with little or no pressure on it and would certainly fail under pressure.

A:  Yes you must clamp these when installing them.

A:  There are not push fittings. They will only work with some type of crimp ring to seal the fitting to the pex pipe

A:  No you cannot slide this into a copper pipe. This needs to inserted into a pex/plastic pipe and crimped.

A:  No, This is designed for plastic PEX plastic tubing. The barbs help keep the tube in place. You need a 90 degree compression type fitting. There is no pipe sweating or special tools required for this solution. SharkBite makes these.

A:  I don’t believe this fitting will work with rigid copper, as it is a PEX fitting. The ridges on the fitting are designed to hold it in place inside the plastic pipe. You’d be better off getting a rigid copper-to-copper 90.

A:  No. You would need to use a SharkBite PEX barb sweat adapter fitting. The barb end will be to install on PEX pipe and the sweat end can be soldered onto copper. A:  No, our fittings are only guaranteed when used with our PEX pipe and either the clamp or crimp system.

A:  Yes,, they are sold individually or in the 10 pack. The Home Depot sku number for the individual pack is 263739.

A:  Yes, both the 1/2" and 3/4" copper crimp rings are sold at Home Depot. The sku number for the 1/2" is 639072 and for the 3/4" is 638146. You can ask the Home Depot associate to locate them by those numbers.

A:  SharkBite fittings and PEX Pipe are approved for use underground. All fittings should be wrapped with our SharkBite stretch wrap or pipe insulation. To ensure a proper seal, wrap tape 1” past each end of the fitting onto the pipe and cover the entire fitting, overlapping ¼” to 1/2” across the fitting.
