A: Hello,
Unfortunately, brass SharkBite push-to-connect fittings and valves are not suitable for connecting to galvanized pipe. Connecting brass valves to galvanized pipe will cause corrosion due to the dissimilar metals. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our technical support department at 877-700-4242.

A: Nope. An additional adapter will be needed to convert the 3/4" steel National Pipe Thread Taper (NPT) to a "push to connect" type pipe.

Yes, you can connect the threaded end of the ball valve onto the galvanized pipe and connect the PEX to the PTC side.

Q:Can the handle by switched to the other side? My wall will be too close for the handle to clear. I don't see a sharkbite with a different configuration. I need a sharkbite with female pipe on left, sharkbite on the right and handle on the left side.

A: One way to adjust to meet your specific needs would be to remove the nut at the top of the valve, remove the handle, place the handle in the position needed, and replace the nut. One issue with this would be: currently the handle has a stop to let you know the valve is completely open/closed. If you place the handle the opposite way, there is no indicator when the valve is open/closed.

A: Yes, the SharkBite end of the valve can be installed when the water cannot be completely shut off. I would recommend opening the valve, making the connection, and then closing the valve.
