A:  You cannot set it so it is fingerprint only, nor can you set it so both are required. So the correct answer is any of the three modes can open this and you cannot remove a mode if you are concerned with the fact that the design means there are actually not many possible combination on the key pad, you cant disable the keypad and use only fingerprints.

        by|May 5, 2023

A:  Yes! You can use either option. The one finger print or two prints. Just the key or just the keypad. Your choice. I happen to use the keypad and the fingerprint. I keep the key nearby in the event that there may be a malfunction.

A:  You can open the safe with just your fingerprint, or just the key code, or just the physical backup key all independently. You will want to change the code from the default though for security purposes, even if you never use it.

Q:Can this hold a 357 magnum long barrel?

        Answer This Question

A:  That depends on the overall length of the gun. A "long barrel" on a revolver can range from 5" to 8"+! It fits my competition sized 5.25" barrel XDm just fine, but there's not much extra room to spare. The overall size of the gun is 8.2"L x 5.75"H

        by|May 3, 2023

        A:  I believe so

        by|May 4, 2023

        A:  it will hold a 6" barrel.

          Answer This Question

A:  This unit is not designed to store ammunition.

          by|May 3, 2023

A:  Personally, I use a fire safe for storing ammo.

            by|May 4, 2023

A:  Some ammo can be placed in the safe but it really is designed for the pistol. An extra clip can fit with my Glock 17 but that's about it. A smaller conceal type pistol may accommodate more.

              by|May 4, 2023

A:  I don't know why you couldn't store ammo in this. They recommend not keeping a loaded firearm in it. I keep three loaded magazines and an unloaded pistol in mine. Not much more room than that.

              by|Jan 23, 2017

A:  it is small an expensive to use it as a dedicated storage for ammunition. If you wanted to store a loaded gun or a gun wiht a spare loaded mag, and a box of ammo it iwll fit and will be fine. Generally you don't store much boxed ammunition in a safe. It many jurisdiction it is a code problem to do so. Why? Ammunition stored in ammo boxes is a small hazard in a burning home, it is a major hazard if stored in a sizable safe as you are containerization explosives amplifying any explosion. You can get ammo boxes that have spaces for padlocks. But this safe is small and the amount of ammo you would have in it with your firearm is trivial

A:  It will generally hold just one. I have a Glock 17 that fits perfectly in one and a 38 revolver in another.

Q:I know this was asked, but the answer was vague. Lets say you open it twice a day, every day. How long would you expect the batteries to last? I am assuming there will be some sort of indicator if they are getting low, what is that indicator (please tell me it is not like my smoke alarms) and how many openings do I get after the alert?

A:  We recommend changing your batteries at least once a year. Or you can change them twice a year when you change your smoke detector batteries. There will be a low battery indicator and you always have access with your override key.

A:  I am not aware of any kind of battery life indicator. I have used mine for about two years and I open it a couple of times a week. The battery is still going strong. You can also use the supplied key if the batteries fail and you could replace the batteries then.
