              Q:Are there right-hand and left-hand handles?

              Answer This Question

A:  Most brands' passage locksets have reversible handles. They usually come with the handles attached so that the little curl at the end points down, as shown in the picture, which is recommended. If you want the little curl pointed up (as I do), you can swap the inside and outside handles easily. If you're installing a dummy handle (i.e., no latch, usually for a closet door with a spring-ball latch), you can specify the handedness of the door.

A:  There is a simple procedure to follow which allows you to switch the handles to either right or left hand. The instructions in the box illustrate and explain how to do it.

A:  No difference> It is possible, depending on whether the door swings in or out, whether the "loop" is up or down. I put the screw side on the side less seen.

A:  These handles are reversible and can be right- or left-handed. The Schlage website has a pdf with instructions so you can change the lever to point down when reversing the orientation https://www.schlage.com/content/dam/sch-us/documents/pdf/installation-manuals/P515-302.pdf

A:  Easy replacement. Smooth open and closing the door

                    by|May 3, 2021

A:  The levers can be removed by inserting a durable thin tool into the holes located on the neck of the levers. While inserting the tool, pull the levers away from the chassis and they will slide off. A:  This has a handle on both sides. Both handles can turn to open the latch. You could leave the handle off of the hidden side and just have a stub sticking out about 1.5", but that might cause someone to get trapped in the closet.

A:  For our French doors we did find both. For our entry , bath and closet doors we did not find a designation of right or left. .They can be placed right or left, the lever just curves differently.

                                by|Dec 16, 2018

A:  No. This works both ways but the lever will be different. The picture shows a left hand position if you are facing the door and the door hinge is on your left. Notice that the lever first curves down then up. If this was used as a right hand door lever, the hinge would be on the right and the handle would first go up then down. If you needed all the handles to be oriented the same way, then you would have to buy specific right and left door levers. Most people do not notice but it does drive some OCD individuals a little nuts.

A:  I do not see why you couldn't use them for outside doors. They call handles "entry door handles" because they have a lock. Privacy handles also have a lock, typically used for bedrooms or bathroom doors. Closet doors and passage hall doors are usually not locked.

A:  This can be used for an entry knob, but it does not include a "positive locking latch," so the door likely will not close as tightly as if you used an entry knob. If you have the latch assembly from a Schlage entry knob, you can use this knob with that latch for a tighter seal on your door.

A:  You could certainly use this on an exterior door - there is a lever on both sides. The deadbolt lock will take care of security if one lock is sufficient for your needs. You might want to check the specifications for door thickness to be sure your patio door is in the range.

A:  This handle only has a small 'tongue', not the type that retracts by turning the handle, so it's easily just pulled to open the door and never locks. You can use this on an exterior door but it doesn't latch like regular door handles. Another choice with a 'tongue' is the 'Privacy Bed/Bath Door Lever', which latches when closed then opens by turning the handle. This type has an interior push-button lock which can be unlocked from the outside by absolutely anyone using a 'pin key' (or a paperclip, etc.) and does not require a key.

A:  Closet latches need handles on both sides so no one can become trapped inside the closet. There are closets (and other doors) that have spring-loaded latches that do not require actual turning handles. For these applications Schlage (and others) make "Dummy Handles" that match the style of others in their line. In this style there are right and left hand versions. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Schlage-Accent-Satin-Nickel-Dummy-Door-Lever-F170-ACC-619-LH/100080921
