A: It would probably depend on the size of the cat. I installed mine in the hope that it would be cat/grandkids proof. I think that a plastic screen is available that is designed to be animal proof.

A: Yes. If it can be pushed down in the spline slot I don't see any reason why it can't be bent at a right angle.
