A: Hi Linda. It works fairly well mainly to protect your carpet from rugs that do not have a dedicated backing. Usually if the rug you are placing on top of the carpet doesn't have a backing, it will damage the top fibers of your carpet. Thank you for your inquiry.

A: Hi. The dimensions listed under Approximate Size is approximated and have fixed values. The length and width are correct. However, the height given in the earlier Q&A was incorrect. The pile height for this is not 0.08 of an inch. It is .3 of an inch. Thank you.

A: The pad I received is much darker than pictured. It is exactly 9’ wide but the length is about 9” shorter than the twelve feet stated. It works fine with the area rug I purchased. I actually plan to cut off some of the width. I’m more concerned about the dark color on my light tile.

Q:I want a pad to protect my new laminate flooring, I've had the pads that are the rubber little bubbles in the past and when I pulled it up they stuck to the floor leaving marks everywhere. I'll never buy another pad like that. My rug is 8 1/2 x 11 ft. What do you have that's of great quality.

A: No bubbles. I lifted the rug a couple of days ago to dry to try to flatten out the pad some more. Pad lifted from floor easily. My rug was about same size that you have.

A: 8 mm (0.3 inch) is the thickness indicated, which is between a 1/4 of an inch and 3/8 of an inch. The felt fiber pad under our kitchen wool area rug that sits on a hardwood floor measures 4 mm thick. It gave adequate support and non slip performance for the 10 year life of the rug that we are currently replacing.

A: I don't really know the thickness but it is perfect for my oriental rug. Wouldn't want it thicker.

A: Hello. The thickness of this rug is 0.08 inches. It is recommended for thinner rugs. Thank you.

Q:How much smaller should the pad be cut than the actual size of the rug to be laid on top - an inch - two inches on all four sides?

Answer This Question
A: I cut mine about one inch less that the actual rug measurements. Just enough that the rug would lay well on the floor.

A: Hello,
Thank you for your question. We recommend that rug pads be an inch shorter on all sides compared to the rug.
Thank you for choosing The Home Depot.
