Q:What gauge is this sink? Also, other than size, how does it differ from the "David Luxury Undermount Handmade Solid Copper 31 in. Single Bowl Kitchen Sink in Hammered Antique Copper" (Model #SK203-31AC)?

Answer This Question
A: The Orwell and the David are both similar in size, profile and installation type. Both are 16-gauge. The David sink is indeed slightly larger (and noticeably deeper) and it has a tighter corner radius for a more square bowl with maximum utilization of this deeper bowl. The David also comes in center-drain option or a right / offset drain option.

A: I don’t know. I suggest asking the manufacturer. Beware- this copper turns lighter in spots if you put a bowl in it for just a minute. You can’t treat it like a regular sink where you might leave anything in it. It’s beautiful st first but becomes a huge disappointment.

A: If you like the patina look

A: I would never buy this sink again. It was beautiful to begin with, but it is impossible to keep it from getting stained. I was doing my best to keep it pristine, using the manufacturer's recommended product to seal it monthly, but I think a houseguest left a small bowl in the sink overnight and it now has a ring where the copper turned lighter. Any bit of food can also stain the sink. I think using it outdoors would be even worse. I suggest putting in a granite sink or even stainless.

A: We have found it to be much more durable and patina more nicely than expected. I think it would be okay in a covered outdoor kitchen, but highly recommend getting the Sinkology grate insert (bought on another site) to protect the bottom from scratching if there is anything placed in the sink.

A: Not sure how this sink would fare out-of-doors. Concerns would include extreme and prolonged heat and cold. Perhaps if it was covered when not in use, the impact of these factors might be mitigated.
by|May 5, 2023
A: I wouldn’t recommend it UNLESS you don’t mind the natural elements oxidizing it to a copper patina color. If you live in a place like Arizona, you won’t have a problem. If you live in the Pacific Northwest, expect to have a very different sink than what you’ve installed. If this concerns you, go for the stainless steel or quartz sink options

A: I think this sink would be beautiful in an outdoor kitchen. We put it in our new build and we love it. I’ve gotten several compliments on it. The only downside is balancing the patina. I’ll polish it and it gorgeous for a few hours. By the next morning it’s starting to tarnish. I’m still experimenting with which products work best. Once I figure out how to balance that just so, I’ll polish with a sealer that will help it last a few weeks between major polishing.

Q:What is the exact length? The home depot website has 32 1/2 listed in the main description and 32.25 listed in the specifications...I don't want my counter off...

Answer This Question
A: The approximate outer most dimension is 32-1/2" inches, each bowl is approximately 14-1/2" inches, the center divider is approximately 1-1/2" inches, and the outer flange is approximately 1" inch wide. As each sink is hand crafted and hand hammered the exact dimensions can vary which is why we recommend using the sink itself as the template for any exact and final cuts.

Q:From sinkology and nothing works. I rarely cook so the sink is not used very much. Can you use brasso on the sink?

Answer This Question
A: We recommend using a dish scouring pad, like the rough side of a dish sponge, on the bottom of the sink with some warm, soapy water to even out the living finish. The scouring pad will brighten up the copper temporarily and it will remove the discolored patina. Then, wash down the sink with warm water and a soft cloth twice a day for a week or two and let the water dry on the sink. The brighter copper will darken up as the water evaporates on the copper, creating the original antique blended finish.

A: We typically don't recommend using Brasso, it will make the sink bright and shiny like a new penny, but the bright copper will always darken back up with time and use.

A: Not for this one. The SG002-14 Gehry bottom grid is designed to fit the Sisley Pro 18 copper sink, but not the regular Sisley.
