A:  Hi. It should not leave any discoloration or absorb the pattern of the pad. We do recommend to avoid using this on vinyl, lacquered, or a acrylic surfaces though. A:  I use it on a laminate wood look floor with a heavy pad and area rug over it. I have not noticed any marks or discoloring. I hope that helps. Shirley Bird
