A: I'm not sure if my experience is exactly the same but I had something similar happen. I used a pair of long tweezers to dislodge the string enough to pull it free. I replace my own cord and it is important to make sure to wrap the cord in the direction indicated by the arrows. If this doesn't work, maybe you could send a photo. I've used this trimmer for years and love it.
A: Hi Duncan1948, The spool housing cannot be removed but if you use a small screw driver or ice pick you should be able to reach the string and get it out. Hope this helps. Greg
A: the amperage is in the size of the battery you use
A: Hi Cypress, The amp would be based on the battery you are using. thanks for asking. Greg
A: Hello b3blwalker! No, this string trimmer is not attachment capable. Thanks for the question!
A: NO
A: This trimmer requires that you use a Ryobi ONE+ 18-volt battery.
A: Hi Sonny, You cannot use a 40V battery on the 18V Hybrid String Trimmer/Edger. You would have to purchase a 40V String Trimmer if you want to step up to 40 volts of power.
A: No you can not use the 40 volt battery. It will not fit. You can use the 18 volt battery or an extension cord. However they do make a 40 volt battery version. Model # RY40250. I would suggest getting the 40 volt battery version if you have other 40 volt tools.
A: No, This is the 18V there is a similar looking one at Home Depot that is 40V
A: No, it is a different battery.
A: No, the batteries between the 18v and the 40v are different sizes/shapes and physically wouldn’t fit. Also each device is designed for the voltage stated only.
A: Hi, Ryobilover- If you'll sort the reviews by "newest", you'll see some recent ones. We hope this helps!
A: I purchased this in April 2020 as a replacement for a unit that I had for probably ten years. That motor went crazy and seized up one day. This newer trimmer is the 'Hybrid'. I have several batteries. I have not needed to use the power cord.
A: Love mine!
A: I bought it a month or so ago. I have been pleasantly surprised at how well it does around our house. We downsized last year and the gas trimmer was a pain to use. I have used it about 3 times this year and am able to do all of the trimming on one small battery.
A: I bought mine last year. Works fine. Works even better with the larger one plus batteries - the small one that comes with it does not last long. Of course, the ability to plug it in helps too.
A: I had to go look when I bought mine, and it turned out to be August 2016. I can give you an update review. It continues to be a workhorse, and I can still trim the entire yard on one charge.
A: I got mine in a couple weeks ago. Very nice to have.
A: Yes, I bought mine last year. It has been a good tool. Battery life with a 3ah battery is good enough to do my whole lawn. Powerful enough for home use. The only complaint I have is that the line automatically advances every time you release the trigger. So I often keep it going when moving from one obstacle to the next so as not to waste line. It is easy to replace the line from a bulk spool, although replacement spools are available. Bulk is slot cheaper. I would buy again and recommend to others without hesitation.
A: Yes there are several different heads you can change it into. Including plastic blades that cut heavy weeds and small twigs.
A: Hi Aaron, I do not have an answer to your question but I have the same question. I have this trimmer but I am like you, I do not like the auto-feed. Could you let me know if you get an answer? Thank you.
A: I have been using this product for over 2 years, and I cannot ask for any other model than this, it makes it easy to cut the edges of the lawn as well trim. I am satisfied with the product.
A: Hi, Aaron- Thanks for the question. The bump-feed won't work with out auto-feed models. We do offer a bladed trimmer head, however; please check out model ACFHRL2 for a different trimming option. We hope this helps!
A: The batteries are terrible. My leaf blower (big battery) has broken twice and I don't want to call again and I have 2 of these dead or not charging in my garage. I literally purchased the entire ryobi line of tools.
A: The gray piece in the middle. You either pull it down, or twist to disengage it and then turn the pole.
A: There is a coupling half way down the handle that enables you to change it. Easy to do.
A: Hi, EB- With the battery removed or the plug disconnected, pull up edging boom coupler and turn handle end counterclockwise. Release edging boom coupler when handle has been rotated 180° and locks into place. We hope this helps! If you need additional assistance, please give us a call at 1.800.860.4050.
A: Loosen large upper large handle and rotate it, and that will help support trimmer when used on its side to edge
A: The white part on the handle twists around. Very easy to switch back and forth
A: Using that gray plastic grip, just below that loop handle you push and turn and it becomes an edger.
A: The pole is two parts. Using the grip in the center, twist the pole in a 180 degrees. Now you have an edger.
A: There is a locking “button” at a joint halfway down the shaft, all you have to do is depress this and the shaft and motor rotate 90 degrees. Very quick and easy to switch.
A: We just turn it over to edge. It's all how you hold it
A: I never had any issues. I use both a.c. power and battery. Of course power is better because it's more powerful-stronger..
A: What is your question? Mine works fine! Double check that you are pushing the female side of the drop cord all the way in. Also check your drop cord to see if it works right.
A: Hello, George- We're sorry to hear about the trouble! Will you please give us a call at 1.800.860.4050? We can work together on a solution.
A: Check your power cord and or source. If you have power, take it back to Home Depot.
A: The batteries last pretty good. I use two charges to edge 200'. 1/2 acre regular trimming, no problem.
A: This works with battery and being plugged in!!
A: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-0-065-Replacement-Auto-Feed-Line-Spools-5-Pack-AC14RL5/204302274 - replacement string 0.065 will work
A: .080 See specification page for this product on HD website
A: It performed the way it should. I put it together in ten minutes. Pretty cool and efficient, no problems so far (only a couple times out) Let's see in the future. Cheers!
A: 0.065 string is what the trimmer uses. Buy the spools at HD, or buy the string and wrap your spool yourself with 0.065 .
A: Hi, Roy- This model accepts pre-wound .065 spools. Please check out the following model for a 3-pack deal: AC14RL3A We hope this helps!
A: I'm unsure because your query isn't specific enough for me to understand it, but I'll try. If you mean, "after replacing the trimming cord", yes it can. If you mean, "should one break it, can it be replaced by reordering", I don't know. I would assume: - a replacement cover might be ordered by RYOBI,but you'd have to address that question to the RYOBI company.
A: yes, the whole parts of the string spool can be replaced.
A: I never have,but I`d say you could.
A: Yes. Home Depot sells a replacement trimmer spool cap for under $5.00 made by homelite for electric trimmers.
A: Hello, Jonsey- yes, it sure care. The spool cap model # is AC14HCA- you can find it on the Home Depot website. We hope this helps!
How can we help?
