            Answer This Question

A:  We're happy to help, Greg. When applying Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Paint with an air paint sprayer, you can thin up to 15% with acetone. If using an airless, thinning is not typically required. Make sure to follow the recommendations for your paint sprayer as well for the best results. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

Q:Do I need to use a primer before I paint with this on metal spindles for bannister? Will the matte/flat finish scuff easy? Is it easy to clean?
              by|Apr 3, 2024

              Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help! When applying Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Paint to bare metal, we do recommend a primer for the best coverage and adhesion. Keep in mind, while matte finishes will hide scuff marks and surface imperfections better, these finishes tend to stain or hold on to dust/dirt easier than a glossy finish. We would recommend waiting at least 7 days after application before cleaning the surface to allow the paint to fully cure. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3
