Q:Will this blister or peel if used to paint over a Rangaire venthood? Does the vent hood need to be sanded if the original paint is flat with no blemishes?

Answer This Question
A: We're here to help! Provided the surfaces does not reach temperatures above 200°F or have direct contact with an open flame, Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Paint can be used and won't blister and peel with proper surface prep. Make sure the surface is clean and dry at the time of application. We do recommend lightly sanding smooth, hard, or glossy surfaces to promote full adhesion as well. Make sure the paint on the surface is in good, sound condition.

Answer This Question
A: Happy to help, Jennette! Since chain link fences are often galvanized, the surface will need to be primed with a water-based primer to ensure full adhesion of Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Paint. We recommend Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Water-Based Primer. This primer can be topcoated with this paint after 1 hour in ideal conditions.

Answer This Question
A: Happy to help, James! Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Paint can be applied to wood, metal, fiberglass, and previously coated surfaces. Other surface types would require a primer, such as plastic or PVC. Please keep in mind, this product is not intended for use on surfaces that will be immersed in water, and the more the surface is exposed to water, the more likely it is to blister and peel.

A: Thank you for reaching out, Billy. While Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Satin Paint can be applied to fiberglass surfaces, it can not be applied to showers. The high exposure to moisture will cause the finish to blister and peel.
