Answer This Question

A:  I am not a Home Depot employee so I don’t know if this product is available in larger quantities but as a consumer of this product my experience is such that it would do a great job of keeping water from penetrating cotton and canvas. I used it on my patio cushions and if they get rain water or water from the garden hose on them the water just beads up. I take a small towel to wipe up the beaded water. As far as metal is concerned. I’m thinking you’d need a product like RustOleum paint because it is created for metal whereas NeverWet is designed for fabric.

A:  Thank you for reaching out, Daid! Rust-Oleum NeverWet Outdoor Fabric Water Repelling Spray is intended for use on fabric surfaces only, such as leather, suede, polyester, cotton/poly blends, and canvas. We do not recommend it for use on surfaces that will receive foot traffic since this type of environment will cause the treatment to fade away much faster. At this time, we only offer this product in an 11 oz spray. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for reaching out, Steven! Our NeverWet Outdoor Fabric Water Repelling Treatment is an excellent choice for treating canvas on a camper. The surface should be clean and dry prior to the treatment, and the canvas should be evenly wet with the NeverWet, avoiding soaking or puddling. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

A:  I think that Rust-Oleum's Neverwet would work great on the canvas of the pop up camper! I used it on the cushions of my patio set. Whenever they get wet from rain the water beads up. I use a soft cloth to dry the cushions.

A:  I use NeverWet on my fabric patio umbrella and it works beautifully. Just to be safe, spray on a small area and let dry, and for yourself if there is any discoloring.

            by|Oct 3, 2019

A:  The fabric needs to be able to absorb the product to work well. If the fabric of your camper is already fairly waterproof, it will only absorb where needed. This means that the rest of the fabric will still be as is. My experience with this product is that it must be re-applied every few months (on my shoes). It's still worth the price to try it out. Test it with a garden hose after the application.

A:  As long as the fabric is clean, you should be fine. This product is amazing at water proofing your fabrics.

A:  Thank you for reaching out, Pat! New items should already be clean, so additional cleaning would not be required in this instance prior to applying our NeverWet Outdoor Fabric Water Repelling Treatment. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

A:  I did not wash the patio seat and back covers before I used this product. The product is awesome! I’ve had my set for three summers in Las Vegas and the cushions look like new. When they get wet from rain or an accidental spray from a hose, the water beads up and I can wipe it away with a soft cloth!

Q:I would like to use a pop up fabric tent/ball pit as an outdoor sandbox. Will this protect it from absorbing moisture from the sand?

                Answer This Question

A:  I used this Outdoor Fabric Water Repelling Treatment Spray on outdoor furniture cushions purchased from Home Depot and it works wonderfully. Water from rain simply beads up and I wipe the cushion down with a towel. I'd think that this treatment would help keep moisture away from a pop-up tent but if you're keeping the tent over a damp sandbox 24/7 that is not the same as rain water beading up on my cushions and not what this product is designed for. Perhaps a heavy duty plastic tarp between the damp sand and the tent would be a better option.

It is suitable for use on shoes, patio furniture, backpacks, gloves, camping gear and more. This product will help repel moisture and water. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

                      Answer This Question

A:  This product should work on the jute rope to repel water. I used it on the cushions of my outdoor patio set and water continues to bead up on the fabric after 2 seasons! Love this product.

                      by|Feb 28, 2019

A:  I would think it would. I assume you don't want the jute rope to stain and discolor from repeated soaking with rain. The chairs I sprayed are in a screened patio, so they don't get soaking wet, but they have maintained their color after more than 2 years on the patio in Florida.

A:  It will make the lamp waterproof, however since the lamp is meant for outdoors, the effect will last only for a short period of time. I don't think this product is suitable for an outdoor lamp.

A:  I would think so. I used it on the fabric cushions of 2 outdoor chairs. I have not noticed any loss of flexibility or cracking of fabric or coating on the chair cushions or pillows. I applied Never Wet more than a year ago, cushions still look like new (they are in a screen enclosure, though).

A:  Not sure if its meant for gloves but yes I used the spray on outdoor furniture cushions and they remain pliable and not rigid in any way.

A:  I think this product could be sprayed onto gloves to make them waterproof and still be flexible. I used this product for outdoor furniture cushions. The rain water beads up on the cushions and wipes off easily. The cushions feel normal (no plastic or stiff feeling).

A:  Thank you for your response. As with other waterproofers, Rust-Oleum NeverWet Outdoor Fabric Spray is a temporary treatment. Environmental conditions will affect the longevity of the treatment. Abrasion is the leading cause of reduction in the treatment’s life. The product can be reapplied as repellency begins to decrease. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

A:  It’s been over a year and still working. Used on chaise and chair cushions that are sitting just barely under a high roof, no walls, so rain blows in, I just wipe the beads of moisture off with a towel and it’s ready. I’m sure that it will eventually be rubbed off through contact with clothing as people sit on the cushions. When that happens, I plan to reapply.

A:  It depends on the exposure of the treated product to the elements. I wear my treated tennis shoe when it is raining, to go outside, It was treated about 4 years ago and i never had to re-treat it. As for my treated outdoor furniture, I do spray every year.

A:  I bought NeverWet a year ago April when I purchased an outdoor patio set with chair cushions from Home Depot. I used NeverWet on all sides of the cushions (top, bottom, sides) and let the cushions dry before putting them back on the chairs. Whenever the cushions get wet due to rain or an errant water hose, the water simply beads up. I wipe the cushions down with a small cloth. I haven't re-sprayed the cushions in the 18-months I've had them and don't feel that I need to re-spray them because water still beads up on the cushions. I'm delights with NeverWet.
