A: Thank you for reaching out! We hold all of products to a tight color standard, including Rust-Oleum Automotive Matte Finish Spray Paint. The color of the lid on the can will give the best idea of the final color. Please keep in mind, the number of coats applied and lighting can affect the final color. You will also want to make sure the can is thoroughly shaken before each use and often during your application.

A: It looks black to me. The matte looks great, not a really shiny cheap black.

A: It is a very dark green. The photo was taken in the afternoon not in direct sunlight. I applied the paint to the back door. The little bit on the front door near the rear is a Rust-Oleum Flat black. The paint on the rear wheel arch is Rust-Oleum semi-gloss. It is a nice color but not black enough for my liking.

A: No. This is opaque black. If you use it on windows, you won't see out. Razor blade will scrape it off.

A: We are here to help, Paul! If looking for added durability over Rust-Oleum Automotive Matte Finish Spray Paint while maintaining the finish, we recommend using Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel Clear Spray in Matte. To ensure proper durability of the coating, we recommend cleaning up any gasoline spills from the surface as soon as possible.

A: That's not true. I would try a clear coat, as it scratches very easily. Don't know if it would help though.

Answer This Question
A: For best adhesion of Rust-Oleum Matte Finish to your surface, you will need to sand the surface very well and apply a bonding primer. You can sand with at least 180-220 grit sandpaper, clean the surface well and then apply Rust-Oleum Universal Bonding Primer.
