To prep the surface for Rust-Oleum Automotive Enamel, we recommend removing loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper and lightly sanding glossy surfaces. For best results, dry or wet sand with 400-grit sandpaper to feather adjacent paint surface and prepare metal. Clean area to be painted with mineral spirits to remove all oil, grease, wax and dirt. Dry thoroughly.
