A: Glad to help out, Bill! Rust-Oleum Automotive Enamel Spray is suitable to be applied over bare or primed metal surfaces such as autos, trailers, RVs, and auto accessories. For this reason, we don't recommend applying this product to wood. Instead, we recommend using Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Enamel Sprays, which is suitable for interior and exterior use.

A: You’ve come to the right place! To prep the surface for Rust-Oleum Automotive Enamel, we recommend removing loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper and lightly sanding glossy surfaces. For best results, dry or wet sand with 400-grit sandpaper to feather adjacent paint surface and prepare metal. Clean area to be painted with mineral spirits to remove all oil, grease, wax and dirt. Dry thoroughly.
