A: 12/3 has a black,red, white... 12/2 has a black and white.... 12/2/2 has a black,red,white and gray. Basically if you need to run two seperate circuits you would use 12/3/3, one circuit would be 12/2 and a two pole circuit would be 12/3. all have ground

A: 12/2 is a black and white wire with a ground wire. 12/3 adds a third wire (red). This is typically used in 3 way+ circuits amongst other things.

A: You Do not run this through Conduit! You run it in the walls. But in Conduit you run the individual wires. You can run it to the Disconnect box then change over to the individual wires. Also 12 AWG wire is good for 20 amps. You need to use a larger gauge wire to run a heat pump. They are normally 40-50 amps which requires 8 AWG wire

Heat pump will probably be more than 20AMPS
Either 8 or 10, but again please check to see the amps of the heat pump

A: You should never run Romex through any conduit… what size breaker does your heat pump want? 20 amp = 12 awg 30 amp = 10 awg 40 amp 8 awg.

A: Nope it is meant to handle up to 20 Amps safely. If you push it any more you risk it heating up an eventfully could start a fire.

A: 12/3 is for a double pole 20 amp breaker the next size up is 10/2 for 30 amp single pole and then 10/3 for a 30 amp double pole
