A:  You need a replacement. Home Depot carries the item. It’s not expensive. I had a carpenter put it in and it took him 10 minutes max!

A:  Hello Dave, thank you for your question. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. Unfortunately no, the compact 33 hinges don't have an adjustment for that. It should be replaced. Best wishes. Customer care team.

      by|May 6, 2023

A:  If the door won't fully close one of the hinges is probably broken and needs replacement. If you can verify that the hinge is completely intact, then probably one of the retaining screws has loosened not allowing the door to notshut properly and needs to be adjusted.

        by|May 6, 2023

A:  You might be able to adjust the hinge unless it is bent or cracked. However, for the cost I would just replace.

          by|May 6, 2023

A:  In my opinion, the hinge replacement is the most effective way of closing the subject door.

A:  The hinge comes in two parts. If you are replacing a hinge , chances are you only have to replace half of it . If that is true, you'll probably need two sets of hands so you can keep the door stable while securing the replacement part. It's really a simple task. The hinges in my cabinets lasted 17 years before failures occurred.

                        Answer This Question

A:  Interesting question. The terms "110" and "120", according to the hinge's specifications, refer to the number of degrees to which the hinge can be opened so, if my understanding is correct, the "110" hinge would open 10 degrees less than the "120" hinge. It's not clear how much of a difference those 10 degrees make in the real world, if everything else about the two hinges is the same. My experience, as far as I know, is only with, the "110" hinge.

                        Answer This Question

A:  It is the measurement of the distance from the inside of your door frame to where the door ends on the hinge side. With your cabinet door closed take a piece of masking tape and place it at the edge of where the door ends on the cabinet frame. Do it on the hinge side. With the tape affixed to the cabinet open the door and now measure from the inside edge of the door frame on the hinge side to the edge of the masking tape. This should be the overlay or the amount that the door overhangs the door frame. Another way to do it, but not as reliable, is to measure the width of your frame opening edge to edge. Then measure the entire width of the door. Take the difference and divide by 2. This is your overlay. Example...your frame opening width is 30 inches. Your door width is 33 inches. The difference is 3 inches. Divide by 2 and you get 1-1/2 inches. This would be the overlay (1-1/2 inches) in this example. Hope this helps!

A:  I wouldn't classify it as a "soft-closing" hinge, because I believe: 1) If you close a soft-closing hinge most of the way, it "takes over" and closes the rest of the way on its own, and, 2) Even if you close a soft-closing hinge forcefully, it will provide some "resistance", to prevent the cabinet door from slamming. The Blum Compact 1-3/8" Overlay Face Frame Cabinet Hinges which I installed don't do either of those things. Great hinges, though!

A:  Go online and search for Blum Compact 33 Hinge bundle. Several online retailers offer this hinge assembly with different mounting plates. Most of the time the mounting plates are resusable and do not need to be replaced. If the mounting plate, the part of the hinge that attaches to the door frame, is not cracked or broken, just simply replace the hinge part that attaches to the door. You can find them online for about $2.00 each. It is the Blum Compact 33 hinge without the mounting plate. If you do need the mounting plate, your size is available as part of the bundle (both parts of the hinge assembly). Just select the size you need in the drop-down options for the mounting plate. Hope this helps!

A:  The 120 style that is stamped on your old Blum hinge is no longer available. It refers to the degree that the door swings open (120 degrees). This 110 is a direct replacement for that old 120 hinge. The new hinge allows the door to swing open 110 degrees (10 degrees less). It is negligible and you won't notice the slight difference. The hinge comes in two pieces, the hinge itself and the mounting plate. The hinge will fit any of the Blum compact hinge mounting plates. If your mounting plates (the part which is screwed into the cabinet frame) are not cracked or damaged I would not remove them and just reuse with a new hinge. The hinges are available separately or sold with the mounting plate as part of a bundle as sold by Home Depot. Unfortunately, Home Depot only offers the 1-3/8 inch overlay. Go online and search for Blum Compact 33 Hinge bundle. Several online retailers offer this hinge assembly with different mounting plates. As I previously stated, most of the time the mounting plates are reusable and do not need to be replaced.
