Q:Can you pressure wash the deck and put restore on after it drys? Will it take 2 coats?

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes, Of Course. 2 LIBERAL coats and they have to go on thick. I've tried multiple times to skimp on product and always end up having to fix the result of being frugal with the material. Important thing is to fill the cracks, once you do that you have enough material on.

A:  Yes, we recommend pressure washing to ensure all embedded dirt and grime are removed from the surface prior to application. Be sure the deck is completely dry before applying Restore. Two coats are required. The first coat will go on to fill in cracks and do other minor repairs. The product will soak into the wood or concrete and dry. The first coat may be blotchy and spotty. The second coat works as a finish coat and will give greater wear as the product ages. Be careful not to over spread. Restore is made to be applied thickly.

      Q:Is this product mildew resistent

      Answer This Question

A:  Restore is mildew resistant as long as proper cleaning and upkeep is maintained. Be sure to thoroughly clean the surface prior to application of Restore. For mildew and other organic growths, use a dilution of household bleach (3 parts water to 1 part bleach) applied to the surface before cleaning. Basic maintenance consists of cleaning with household cleaners, such as Deck & Concrete Restore Cleaner, brush and water when necessary. For difficult stains, a solution of diluted bleach commonly cleans the surface area. To remove dirt and grime build up use a light pressure washing to thoroughly clean the deck or concrete area. Be sure to not use a high pressure wash as this can tear or damage the product and/or your surface.

A:  Hello RER! My peers on the paint team asked me to follow up on your question. Because Restore is generally applied as a rough or slightly rough surface, it will tend to hold moisture. Moist surfaces are the perfect breeding ground for mold and mildew ... even if the product is mildew resistant. I recommend my Restore customers use a hose-end deck wash (rather than a pressure washer) at the beginning of each spring season. Simply hose-on, leave on the surface no more than ten-minutes, scrub heavy stains, and hose-off. Mold Armor Deck Wash is inexpensive and will kill mold and remove mildew stains ... without the risk of damaging your Restored surface.

Q:How long after you use restore cleaner on deck do you have to wait to use restore paint

A:  I waited one day, I don't know if there are guidelines for it or not. Worked great for me with that duration

A:  I did not use the Restore Cleaner, used a light duty pressure washer, & that seemed to work fine. I've done three pressure treated decks, two sets of two story stairs, and am in the middle of a dock project built from reclaimed lumber that is 826 sq feet. (75 feet long w boat slips) Dock was old and cracked & splintered in many places & is filling in beautifully. Even where the wood was soaked in green & black mildew it cleaned up well with the pressure washer. So far there are no bonding issues as long as it is going onto clean wood. The only issues I've seen as valid with any application so far is that it takes a lot of product to fill up big cracks in the wood, & it really does take their roller to get the right finish, I tried painting it on and had to roll back over it. Have fun, I have not been disappointed in this product & I'm hard to please.

            Q:can this be sprayed on?

A:  Restore cannot be sprayed on due to the thickness and texture of the product. When applying you should use a roller, rolling slowly and in one direction while applying low, even pressure. We recommend using the Restore Roller. The honey comb roller cover is specifically patented and designed to work with the thickness and texture of the Restore product.

A:  Spraying? I'm not sure. Mighty viscous with aggregate added. One of those sprayers that sprays Texture paint for Popcorn ceilings might possibly work, but the product is thick and has some aggregate in it that would clog any other type of sprayer. If you could spray it it would make application so much better and faster. I'd buy the sprayer in a heartbeat if it would work, I just finished my second major project with this and it produces EXCELLENT results but is time consuming. Home Depot carries a Sprayer http://www.homedepot.com/Building-Materials-Drywall-Tools-Texture-Sprayers-Hopper-Guns/h_d1/N-5yc1vZas27/R-100660219/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051
