Dont replace your deck Restore it
If you follow the guidelines for application your deck will come out great. I am not a handy person and I thought it was easy. my 2 big dogs run all over the deck and it never leaves a mark or chips. only bad thing is the sq ft coverage is less than advertised. Saved me a lot of money not replacing my deck. almost 2 years old now and fading in color as well.

Doesn't cover area advertised, uneven finish
applied first coat and has un even finish, Not enough paint to cover 400 square feet as advertised. Applying 2nd coat today and will see if it comes out even, if not I have to sand it off.

    Excellent Product
GREAT PRODUCT! Been looking for something like this for years. I saw this on my buddy's Massive Dock/Mini Marina in Georgia in 2011, I had seen the dock 12 years before and it was old & tired. I thought he had spent 20 grand on a new dock, he had just redone it in Deck Restore and it was fabulous. I used it myself on a small 9 x 14 upstairs deck that bakes in the extreme afternoon heat. Have been watching it a year, it is Beautiful & Unchanged, and instead of spending weeks replacing wood & Lots of $$$, I spent one afternoon saving the deck. Took 3 gallons for two coats that filled every crack.Traction is excellent, even when frosted over last year. Doing the rest of the decks and my own huge dock this fall. CONS: Nothing significant. Coverage is a bit less than they advertise, but it depends on the condition of the wood ane how big the cracks you have to fill. I laid it on thick and even filled the cracks between the deck boards. The roller lasted two days/two coats on some pretty rough wood, still usable but it is starting to wear. My neighbor used it on his dock and tried to spread it thin, it needed the second coat to make it right.

    Restore for decks
I have had a great experience with the Home Depot Restore product. I was able to claim used 2x6's for a deck project and saved about $1000. I started by pressure washing the deck and gave it 3 days to dry. I then put on two healthy coats (allowing to dry over night in between coats) and let it dry another 3 days. This deck is about 400 square feet and required 4 buckets (15 gallons). The manufacturer's coverage statement was inaccurate and the the roller cover fell apart during painting. Other than that this has been a great product. I spent $400 on a deck that is 400 sq. ft. and a year later is still looks great. No regrets.

    not satisfied
Used product in July 2011. I live in NJ and we did not have a rough winter. Product started chip by December by March the deck was a mess. Since I can not restain the deck I have to buy another 2 gallons to resurface again. Another issue is the product covers your screws and you can not lift a board if necessary. Does not cover the square footage the lable suggests.

    Best alternative to deck replacement
Best alternative to deck replacement: - fills small cracks and secures splinters - provides a non-slip surface wet or dry - looks very nice in gray - takes a couple of coats - some roller brushes will hold up some will not so a spare is good. - do NOT falll on the deck as the texture is like sandpaper

    Poor results
I was not satisfied with this product because it did not cover the square footage it claimed it would. The paint dried with streaking and the roller cover fell apart during painting, leaving behind small particles.
