Q:my garage floor has raised up in the center so the door does not reach the concrete at the ends. one side is approx 2" and other 1 1/2" from the bottom seal to the concrete. The door is a standard 16' and the track for holding the seal is 1 3/8" wide with two slots on each side for the seal to slip in.

      Answer This Question

A:  Depending on how old your garage floor is, I would contact the contractor who placed the concrete floor. This seal will not solve the problem of a space that large on the bottom of the door.

      A:  What is the question?

A:  Poured garage floors are generally uneven. The rubber gasket on the edge of your garage should provide a firm fit, but I'm not sure that a 1.5 to 2 inch gap on either end will be covered by the gasket - most the material might stretch would be half an inch.

A:  Depends on how much your center section of concrete has risen. Seal is flexible but only a certain amount.

A:  Don’t know about smaller T-ends. You could try lubricating the seal and the track with a soap solution.

A:  The ends might be pinched a little to keep the gasket from sliding out. Try a flat blade screwdriver to spread the channel.

Q:I have tried the 1/4 inch and is loose on the T coming from the track on its own. What next size for the T end should I try?

                Answer This Question

A:  Depending on how loose it is, you will probably just go up 1 more size in width. I think the widths increase by either 1/16th or 1/8th of an inch each time. The problem is that if you get it too big, then you will have a hard time pulling it through the track. If it is just a little loose and doesn't fall out of the track, then just leave it alone.

A:  Difficult to answer your question. You need to measure the size of the groove and purchase the appropriate size. Remember, that the gasket "T" size cannot be too large or you will not be able to pull it through the entire groove of the door.

A:  No. Just the bottom seal. Note: It is important to get the correct "lip" at both ends of the curved (U shaped) seal. The one I received was thicker than required, which made it more difficult to install. You probably should get the thinnest that they make.
