    Answer This Question

A:  The door thickness is not the deciding factor, it is the width of the track that the T-end slip into.

A:  POSSIBLE BUT I WOULD NOT USE BECAUSE THE GASKET IS DESIGNED TO COMPRESS WHEN THE DOOR HITS THE FLOOR.

A:  I suppose you could if you wanted to, but this seal doesn't require it and I would not do it myself as it would change how the seal works when the bottom of the garage contacts the pavement, you're garage door opener my sense that an object is there and reopen. If you use a foam insert you'll probably have to adjust the down limit on or garage door opener to accept the insert. Unless you have a huge gap at the bottom of the garage door, I do not recommend using the foam insert. With your new seal be sure to have about 3 to 4 inches overhang at each end, you then fold those ends back into the bottom seal, this closes the end gap and you don't have to crimp the T channel ends. You can contact me again if you have any other concerns or problems, I've installed quite a few garage door seals.

A:  I'm sure if you find the correct size you could. It would be a tough task to get it to go thru a long length, it would have to be stiff and you would need a lot of soap are my thoughts.

A:  Yes. That’s what I added as it seemed important for structural seal and pest blockage, as well as to reduce inside access by critters. I believe it was 3/4” round that I ordered for purpose. Any flexible non-deforming material might work. One possible issue for the foam rope is that it can lose shape under pressure and not seat the same over time.

A:  No, you need to have track installed to receive the seal. However, if you search the HomeDepot.com website for: 10 ft. Nail-On Garage Door Bottom Seal, you will find the seal that will work for your door.

A:  Yes. Seal that I received was slightly under a 1/4 inch. Used a little dishwashing soap on seal and it slid right in. Easy installation.
