Q:Is it proper to mount the slide plate sideways, NEXT to the primary Door window ?

Answer This Question
A: Not sure if it makes sense to put the “Slide Plate” near a window, (broken by intruders), through which their hands could fit through to un-slide the bolted chain.

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. The chain lock in brass with a keyed cylinder is item # U 9912. Some stores may stock these, but not all of them. For verification, kindly look towards the upper left hand corner of the webpage and verify that you are shopping in a local store. If not, click where it reads “You’re shopping [City Name]” to the right of the Home Depot logo square, then click where it reads “Find Other Stores” in the drop-down menu. Once you’ve landed on the city’s store of choice, click on the orange-colored “Add to Cart” link below the item’s photo, or the “Change Pickup Store” link at the bottom of the gray colored area to the left of your screen. This will open a list of stores in your surrounding area that you can choose from, otherwise, please contact an Associate from your local Home Depot Center, or by contacting the HomeDepot.com Customer Service line at (800) 430-3376 regarding your question.

Q:Can the guard be placed vertically instead of horizontally?

Answer This Question
A: I have not used it vertical but it should work as long as the parts are placed close enough to each other so it can go on and off and the large opening on the end of the slot is on the top.

A: Thank you for your inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. it is not designed to be installed this way. I am not sure why you would want it installed vertically. Gravity / the weight of the chain would make the chain drop down the slot. It is a choice you would have to make. Use your own discretion.
