The holes spacing are 1/2" H and 1/2" L from the edge of the plate so you subtract 1" from the width making it 5" and the remaining holes are ever 6 5/8" apart for the length of plate. A:  Though it is recommended that you have an inch open area on either side of this plate, you can install it on an exact length and width area because the nails for securing it are inside those dimensions.

A:  for your kick plate, you will want a uniform door surface showing around your plate or the closet you can get

A:  Yes that will work provided the measurements are accurate. The one installed was the same measurements. The smallest I could find was 34” x6”.

A:  Yes, this plate is for year round outdoor exposure. That is where I've installed mine.

Installation of these kickplates on the exterior side of the door will void the 1 year warranty, as these are designed to be installed on the interior side of the door. This metal will not hold its finish under harsh weather conditions causing some surface blemishing to be expected if mounted on exterior side of door. A:  Seems so to us. We used some caulking around the item to seal against water.

A:  It comes with a clear plastic coating that can easily be pulled off.

A:  The metal is a non-ferrous base metal; removable PVC protective coating on most plates; 34" width gives full door coverage on 36" wide doors allowing clearance for door stop.

A:  No. It does not appear to have a Protective coating on the kick plate.
