Answer This Question
A: Some of our customers prefer a stain finish for the MDF to achieve a specific look. MDF is a very absorbent material, so you must be careful not to over apply stain. You might consider a wood conditioner pre-application to control stain absorption.

A: MDF stands for Medium Density Fiberboard. You can use the MDF pole wrap if you're going to paint, but if you want to stain the wood, stay away from the MDF. Hope that answers your question.

A: MDF is an abbreviation for Medium Density Fiberboard. This is our paintable model without any hardwood veneer. The smooth surface without wood grain is preferred for painting. We also offer Red Oak, Maple and Cherry veneer. All are priced differently.

Q:Can you stain this product like wood?

Answer This Question
A: You can stain MDF, but you need to be careful because this material is very absorbent. Minwax makes an Oil-Based Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner that would allow you to control absorption and achieve the look that you want. You can also request free 2 inch square samples on Pole-Wrap's website to test stain.
