Q:I like the ideal of using the swim raft and the 4 x 10 floating dock, can these be connected together easily together and is there a possibility of having handrail on at least one side of the ramp as you walk out to the swim raft.

Answer This Question

A:  The swim raft was designed as a stand alone structure and will actually sit in the water lower than a typical 4' x 10' dock section. We do have plans available that will allow you to attach an 8' x 10' section to a 4' a 10' section an avoid this height difference. Please call us at 1-888-752-9782 and we will be more than happy to answer any additional questions you have and provide these additional plans. You will be immediately greeted by a real live voice during normal business hours. We look forward to speaking with you.

Q:Anyone using these on the saltwater applications

    Answer This Question

A:  We have only extensively tested our products in fresh water situations. Salt Water or "brackish" water may affect the hot dipped galvanized metal brackets and hardware. According to the American Galvanizers Association, Galvanized coatings provide considerable protection to steel immersed in sea water and exposed to salt spray. The factors that influence the corrosion of zinc in fresh water also apply to sea water. However, it is the dissolved salts (primarily sulfides and chlorides) in sea water that are the principal determinants of the corrosion behavior of zinc immersed in sea water. Given the high level of chloride in sea water, a very high rate of zinc corrosion might be expected. However, the presence of magnesium and calcium ions in sea water has a strong inhibiting effect on zinc corrosion in this type of environment.

A:  PlayStar Marine Dock Floats PS 1155 are not filled with any additional materials. We do not fill them so that if the float somehow would get punctured or torn open there are no additional contaminants or harmful materials to impact the environment or wildlife. Our Floats have 500 lbs of buoyancy each and will float in as little as 1 1/2" of water. Any additional questions please let us know. 1-888-752-9782.

          Answer This Question

A:  Depends if you get a solid freeze. I left my dock in one year due to business travel and my piles were bent and it was difficult to straighten. I wouldn’t suggest leaving them in.

          by|Jun 3, 2020

A:  Normal freezing and thawing will not damage a PlayStar Dock. However, docks are left in at owner’s discretion. No dock can withstand heavy ice movement. You should consider the following factors: What has been the history of ice movement at your location? Do other dock owners in your area take their docks in or leave them out? Are there local restrictions or requirements? What kind of recreational activities take place around the dock during the winter? On a floating dock we recommend leaving a float off of the front of your first dock section so a portion of this section serves as a "gang" plank. This will also allow it to properly function with the seasonal changes in water levels. The pipes on the subsequent sections will anchor the dock and keep it in the same location on your shoreline. Any additional questions please let us know. 1-888-752-9782.
