A: The 20x16" (nominal size) GuardWise is actually 19-1/4" x 15-1/2." A GuardWise window that is actually 17-1/4" x 15-1/2" would be a 18" x 16" (nominal size) window. The "actual" sizes are the outside dimensions of the window. Pricing would vary depending on the size of the window. Contact your local store for pricing.

Q:Please provide me a list of specific grout, caulk, and any other supplies I need for installing this window in an exiting window space. Thanks...

Answer This Question
A: Our installation calls for these windows to be mortared at the sill and jambs and then expansion material at the head and that joint caulked. So in additon to the window, you will need a bag of Type S Glass Block Mortar, three 16" Expansion Strips and a tube of caulk.

Q:1 ARE THESE WINDOWS 1 HOUR FIRE RATED? 2 CAN THESE WINDOWS BE BUILT TO SIZE
by|Jun 23, 2013
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: The GuardWise Windows are not fire rated. For a fire rating, you need to install the window on site with a mortar installation. The GuardWise windows are built with silicone sealant and so are not fire rated.
The Guardwise windows are available in sizes form 12x18 through 40x48 in 2" increments.

Answer This Question
A: To attache two GuardWise Windows together, run a double bead of the Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block Sealant along the side of the window, install a ThinLine Track Spacer, run another double bead of the Glass Block Sealant on the spacer and install the second window. Allow the sealant to cure for 24 hours and the finish the joint on the interior and exterior with a bead of the Glass Block Sealant. Note: the rest of the window does not have spacers between the blocks and the spacer you use to connect the two panels may be visible through the blocks.

A: The actual size of a 20 In. wide by 26 in. high GuardWise window is 19-1/4" x 25. Your opening will allow for a 1/4" mortar joint on both sides and about a 1/2" joint at the top and bottom. The bottom joint is mortar and the top joint has expansion material and then is caulked.
