          Answer This Question

A:  Perimeter Channel is not used to install a GuardWise Window. To install a GuardWise Window, apply mortar to the sill, insert the window into the opening, make sure it is plumb and level, wedge it to hold it in place while applying mortar to both jambs. Remove wedges, insert expansion material across the head and caulk that joint.

            Q:looking for a 43.5 x 27 window
            by|Jan 14, 2015
            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  The actual size of a 44x28 inch GuardWise window is 42-1/2" x 27" - the width is listed first. For a 44x28 (actual 42-1/2" x 27") Decora Pattern without a vent the item number would be S4428DC. This window is 42-1/2" wide and 27" high. Some glass has a green tint due to the iron content in the sand used to make the glass. Our goal is to remove as much iron content as possible making the glass as clear as possible. (Note: we are addressing the size correction on this item)

Q:how do I install a prefabed block window into a wooden frame, bricked exterior
                by|May 6, 2014
                1 Answer
                Answer This Question

A:  To install a GuardWise window into a wood opening, you can follow the same instructions as for an installation into a cmu opening, however, since mortar does not adhere well to wood, you should apply a "stop" around the perimeter of the window on the inside and outside of the window after it is installed. You can use 1/4 round or other type of trim to accomplish this.
