A: If it isn't pulled tight enough, I guess a rat or mouse could chew through it. I have had large dogs scratch at it and cats grab it with their claws over the past 2 1/2y and absolutely no damage. I am VERY happy with this product!

Q:Is it rodent proof? Can rodent chew through it?

A: I haven't had any rodents or bugs come thru my screen
Very thick screen works great
by|Jun 8, 2019
A: Short answer: I don't know if it is "rodent proof". Our cats scratched the original conventional screen to the extent it had to be replaced. This pet screen has not been damaged in any way, does not affect visibility, and has held up beautifully for over a year. Personally, I think the screen would resist rodents and would probably be worth the try.

A: No. Rodents can pretty much chew thru anything. This screen is a rubbery coated fiberglass material. Wouldn’t hold up to a rodents teeth.

A: No. After chewing for a period of time in the same area they will chew through.

A: It’s typical sized screening. Will keep most bugs out. Much more durable for preventing cats from shredding it.

A: Gnats could get through, but not anything larger.

A: Not only does it keep bugs out, it works great at keeping our husky and German shepherd out as well. And easy to install. This was a great buy for us. Especially after the husky.ran right through the the other screen door.

A: Size is similar to a regular screen. Have it on 2 doors and bugs getting in has no been a problem. It has held up well against minor dog pawing.

A: It has larger holes, but we haven't had any bugs getting through it and we have tons of fruit gnats and little mosquitos. Not sure about anything smaller.
by|May 5, 2019
A: No bugs can’t get through. The screen is tightly woven.

A: This screen is very tough and resists tearing by cat's claws. The openings are about the same size as standard window screen, and visibility is much the same. It's just so much stronger that our two cats have not even tried to tear it. We've had it for about 3 years on our sliding screen door now. It's well worth it.

Q:Can I use this with gate on my driveway?? We have a slight drop-off that creates a gap when our driveway gate is closed and our dog has discovered that he can fit under the gate (designed to keep him in the backyard!). Wanting to use a durable fabric to deter him from going under that area. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A: Honestly I wouldn't use this as an actual barrier to keep your pup in. It's only a little thicker then regular screen, worked nicely on our lanti because the cats liked to climb the screen and would rip out the lighter screen.

A: It's very thick and we've had it up for almost two years, I think, and not even cats climbing it or a lab standing up on the screen door have damaged it. Very good screening material. If you secured it to the gate stretched tightly with swift ties it might work, but it's fully flexible so the bottom would likely need something to attach to if you need it to extend below the gate. Hope this helps.

A: This product is intended for use in window screen frames. It works VERY well for that purpose. I do not see how this could be attached to your driveway gate and still be effective. Also, there are other much more affordable geotextiles available for your needs, since yours are not screen window related.
Will this work - Yes, if you can find a way to secure it. Is it recommended - No; not in my opinion. Good luck on your efforts.

A: I used it on a lower deck and was able to staple it to the posts. The posts and upper deck created my frame to attach to. It works really well.

A: It's so thick you should have no problem stapling. It's very good screen, we've even had several cats climbing it from outside and not one hole since installing a year ago.

A: The best way to attach to the wall would in my opinion be to use a lathing stripp 1-2” width and staple it or nail it over the screen to the wall.

A: Sure. Maybe get some wood as a frame for extra holding strength around the screen and nail through the wood and the screen.

A: I framed 26 or so openings in my cat porch but the fabric is stiff enough for it to be stapled. You will need to use heavy staples, closely spaced, and the fabric should be streched as tight as possible to minimize sagging.
