A: From either end....the first hole is 5/8" from the end and the second hole is 2-1/2" from the end. The long measurement between the inside set of hole is 27-3/8".

A: Not sure how much you want to cut as there are two holes towards the top and two towards the bottom needed in order to attach them to your rails. The first hole is from either end, from the end of the baluster to the center of the first hole is 9/16" and 2-7/16" from the end to the second hole (without the end cap installed) therefore, not much to play with.

A: Yes. They are made of aluminum so they cut fairly quick and easy.

A: Yes, I used a compound miter saw with a metal cutting blade. Depending on how short you cut them you may need to use an uncut baluster as a template to drill new holes. these are very easy to work with.
