Q:I am installing a stair railing. Will these connect even with that angle? Do they come universal for straight or stair railing or do I need to buy ones that are set at an angle?

A:  As I remember, they can be installed either straight or at an angle. They look just like the picture- a piece of plastic with a hole in the middle so you can install them either way. They should work as long as the angle of your stairs is the same as the connectors.

A:  I drilled holes in the top of the stair railing the size of the tube I screwed that angle bracket to the bottom part of the rail and then slid the tube up into the hole and then down on to the angled bracket. It worked great. I guess you could screw the flat part down to use them for straight tubes

A:  Yes, this product can be used on either level or stair railing.

A:  Yes. If installing a rail, just have the angled part facing downward and if a straight rail, upward. I counter sunk the rails to have the baluster tube go into the wood according to my rail angle. Good luck. Easy to use product.

A:  Yes I used these to provide a safety barrier around our open loft and staircase. The angles worked perfect for staircase and flat areas you use the flat surface with angles inserting into tube. I highly recommend this product.

A:  These can be installed either vertically or at the standard preset angle. They have a tiny bit of flexibility in terms of angle. Unlike other connectors, they have no collar so the baluster can be pushed all the Way to the bottom or top. If you have a non standard angle for the handrail you are installing these on, these won't work ececpt for the bottom of the baluster. I installed over 200 and luv them . They can not be seen. Hint, put a small dab of construction adhesive under each connector to keep them from spinning.

A:  You install them with the angle pointed up for your bottom row and pointed down with your top row. Connect with the baluster. I followed this online. https://www.homedit.com/stair-handrail/

A:  Yes, you can screw these in from either side. So for your stairs, you'd place the angle side on your wood and screw them down. For your straight railing you'd place the flat side to the wood and screw them down. They worked like a charm for me.

A:  They come with a straight end and an angled end, so they can be used effectively in either application. I've used them for both.

Q:For pre-existing railing, how do the balusters go in since both top and bottom adapters are screwed in place?

                        Answer This Question

A:  EASY, just drill the top railing making the hold extra deep, screw connector on bottom, then insert baluster (about 1" longer then space between the upper and lower rail) pushing it up into the hole until it clears the bottom connector then lower on to it. The makes it easy to remove them when you have to paint. I do this on NEW decks too!

A:  You would have to disassemble the top or bottom rail, remove the old baluster and then screw in the adapters and add the new metal balusters.

A:  I think you would have to take the railing apart and install the balusters on the insides of both the top and bottom crosspiece.

A:  I don't see any way you could use these to replace balusters on a pre-existing railing.

A:  I think these are meant to be used only perpendicular to the ground and not at an angle because of the way the screw goes through the connector.

A:  When you find it, I’m also looking. God knows why they can’t maoe a connector for something between standard and wheelchair ramp. A 20-25° stair is a more gracious and gentle grade. Time for manufacturers to step up their game and offer connectors in several degree options. I’m sure there are some looking for 10-15° as well. Low rise, deep tread is a nicer stair, and better for disabled people. If anyone finds such a connector, please let us all know!
