Answer This Question

A:  Absolutely

by|Mar 1, 2019

A:  Yes, It is easy to use and I used it for 10' ceilings and walls. I could have hung the drywall by myself, but having another person saves a lot of time. Definitely recommend.

A:  Yes. Especially if you're by yourself on the job.

      by|Mar 2, 2019

A:  Yes, It is very simple to set up.

      by|Mar 1, 2019

A:  Yes, this particular drywall hoist is easy to operate and does not require you to be an experienced drywall person to use it. Just ensure the sheet is within the boundaries of sheet holder so that it won't slide off, after this trun the wheel to hoist, if the sheet you are lifting is not lined up with ceiling drywall the hoist has wheels that will allow you to move the hoist back, front or sideways until the sheet is in the right position for you to install.

A:  Yes. I found this lift very useful. The important thing is to make sure it locks into position so it will not drop back down when you let go.

Q:Is there a dolly designed to move and store this in when not being used or transporting?

                Answer This Question

A:  I don't know. However the lift does break down into several pieces that can be more easily stored.

                by|May 5, 2023

A:  It breaks down into 3 pieces for moving and storage.

                    A:  NO THERE IS NOT.

                    by|May 5, 2023

A:  I believe the simple answer is NO! To transport it, you need to take it apart, It breaks down into four major parts; wheel assy, telescope assy, carriage and cross braces

A:  There is no dolly that perfectly fits the drywall hoist, but what I use is a regular movers dolly for which I screwed on a 30" X 20" approximately piece of plywood and once the hoist is dismantled I place all the parts on the movers dolly. I can also bungy cord it to the dolly and then roll it if needed and lean against the garage wall. This allows me to move it around the garage if needed without the bulk and it doesn't take as much space.

A:  Not that I know of. I just store it in the box it came in but I plan to make a wooden box as the cardboard one is falling apart

Q:Is the brake infinitely variable (friction brake as in a boat lift) so that the panel can be pressed tightly against the ceiling (at least where fully supported by the arms) or does it have a lever and cog type brake that only stops/brakes at, say, 1/2" intervals?

A:  I guess you could call it a fiction break it does hold the panel's tight to the ceiling when you're getting ready to screw them in.

                      by|May 5, 2023

A:  Yes it is a friction brake on the cable drum. It work great for snugging rock up on the ceiling. Also allows you to evenly push walls up square to the ceiling.

A:  The brake system is the crank system that raises and lowers the drywall. You can press it tightly against the floor joists so that there is no gaps. It is not 1/2” increments. Wherever you stop cranking it locks. I purchased this for a basement project and was able to utilize it by myself. Great project!! Hope this helps.

A:  Yes, it will lift metal as long as it's less than 150 pounds. If the metal panels are floppy, you might want to build yourself a platform made out of drywall or wood for safety.
