A: Good afternoon, if you want to use R-13 Unfaced on the Interior walls to help with noise, it may be beneficial. We would recommend you check your local building code requirements for Exterior walls. Exterior walls would likely require a vapor barrier/facing depending on your region. You would want to ensure you're meeting the R-value requirements for the exterior wall, as well as correct vapor barrier placement. It may be possible to use the R-13 UF in combination with an additional Unfaced insulation with an added separate vapor barrier, OR, you could possibly use the R-13 UF in combination with a Faced insulation, provided the Faced insulation is following local code requirements with regard to placement toward the interior or exterior of the Exterior wall assembly.

Answer This Question
A: Hello Mani, Fiberglass products may cause temporary skin and mucous membranes itching due to the mechanical abrasion effects of fibers, a condition which is completely reversible. Owens Corning does not recommend the use of unfaced EcoTouch® PINK® Fiberglas™ Insulation in exposed applications where it will be subject to routine human contact due to this potential temporary irritation. Thank you for your inquiry!
