Answer This Question

A:  geedub, this fitting is designed to only be used under working pressure, not constant pressure, so you will need to make sure it is installed downstream of your valve.

Q:How can I be sure I am NOT connecting this to the main line, which the description says I can't do? I need to repair a line that goes to a junction box in the front yard. But there also is a junction box in the back yard, closer to the pump. Is the main line the one in the back or is it in the front?

    Answer This Question

A:  By main line, we mean any line under constant pressure. These flex repair couplings are intended for use in outdoor, cold water, intermittent pressure applications. They should be installed downstream of any control valves.

Q:I see from other questions and answers that this connector cannot be used with a main line, which is under constant pressure. How can I tell for sure whether I am connecting to a main line? I need to repair a connection going into a valve box in the front yard. But there's another valve box in the back yard, closer to the pump. Is the back connection considered the main line? Or is it the front?

A:  Thank you for your answer, Orbitirrigation. I will check out the slide repair fitting. (As with your question, when we say "main line", we mean any line under constant pressure. These flex repair couplings are intended for use in outdoor, cold water, intermittent pressure applications. They should be installed downstream of any control valves. Orbit does make a PVC-Lock slide repair fitting that is rated for constant pressure applications, though.)

Q:Is the Outside diameter of this the same as rigid 1 inch pvc? I want to cut a section out and glue it into 1 inch pvc fittings. Thanks.

        Answer This Question

A:  Jim, this pipe is designed for push-fit connections with rigid PVC pipe that you have cut to the right gap length. The flexible pipe itself was not built to be cut or glued.

Q:What is considered "main line"? I have two valves. One for each side of my yard, each with 4-6 sprinklers. Each valve has a 1" line that connects the valve from across the yard to the to the smaller sprinkler lines. They are both needing to be re-routed. Can this be used since there is only pressure in the lines when the sprinklers are running?

          Answer This Question

A:  The main line is the line that is under constant pressure, that goes to your irrigation solenoid valve. The pipes after that valve, are not under constant pressure (only pressure when system is running). This product is only for use after the irrigation control valve, where the line is only pressurized for short times.

A:  I have the same question... Is everything before the valves considered "main line"? Since there is always pressure in the water line before the valves, even when the sprinkler system is not On. Or is "main line" determined by the amount of pressure in the water line?
