Answer This Question
Q:We purchased 6 of these window boxes and love them. We live in a covenant controlled area, and the Homeowner Association is now requiring that we put a saucer underneath the boxes to catch any water that might drain out. Any suggestions as to what we could use or purchase?

Q:My boxes did not come with mounting hardware. It seems a french cleat would be a good way to mount these to my siding. Can I drill thru these backs to attach the cleats?

Answer This Question
A: No, these boxes do not come with any mounting cleats. I do not know for sure if you can drill thru' the backs as I used shelf style brackets to mount mine. My guess is that you should be able to drill thru' the box as many boxes are mounted that way, but for me, I'd rather go the other way & as such, not have to worry about the weight. That's just my opinion tho'.

A: the basic answer is yes. ECOFLEX, our WPC composite, has high reclaimed wood percentage and works like wood using typical wood working tools. Drilling and adding a cleat is a good way. Many buyers just use brackets they find at a local hardware store.

A: This item will hold 2.49 Cubic Feet of soil. Many bags of soil are sold using quarts as a measurement, so this planter will hold about 65 quarts of soil if filled to the top.

Answer This Question
A: You can easily paint this product and any other New Age items made with the ECOFLEX composite. Start with a spray primer. Once the primer has dried, or as directed on the can, coat with the color of your choice.
I have had very good experiences with both Rustoleum and Krylon spray paints and have a painted more than 30 products over time with the same results.
I would use the same brand primer and paint - just as a sanity check kind of thing - to make sure the two are compatible. Find the color you want and then get the same brand of primer.
You can clear coat for a final, final finish that will prove to be even more durable.
You can repaint at any time in the future. Just clean the item, wipe off any dust and paint.

by|Oct 25, 2018

Answer This Question
A: No. ecoFLEX is the registered trademark/brand name we have assigned to our wood plastic composite material. ecoChoice is an assembly design. All of the outdoor products carry the same 10 year warranty that covers defect and deterioration.

A: We didn’t use window brackets, our three pots are sitting on a ledge on our front porch. We do have drip lines, from out irrigation system, running to each. No watering necessary!

A: You can use just about any bracket that is designed specifically for a window box or most shelves. We can't include pictures in this response but here are some links to the Home Depot site:

Q:Do I need a liner with these boxes?

Answer This Question
A: No. Since the ecoFLEX composite does not absorb moisture of any kind you do not need to protect it from the effects of the constant contact with wet soil. I have a number of these planters ans after - in some cases - 7+ years of use - there is zero deterioration if the ecoFLEX material. In fact, a it of scrubbing with a scotch brite pad and it looks almost new.

A: No. I just filled mine with a good potting mix.
I've had them for a couple years now and they are great. They will turn Almost White if you don't paint or stain them

A: You can use a liner, but it is not needed.

A: Whatever your preference. I have some broken up pcs. of foam in mine to help fill the box some and keep the bottom open to drainage. I don't think a liner is necessary, but that would be up to you.
That would be up to you. I don't use liners in mine. I have some broken up pcs. of foam in mine, just to help fill the box with something light so that the dirt doesn't make them too heavy, but again, that is my choice, not a necessity. With the foam in the bottom, I still have plenty of dirt, and it not only makes for a lighter box that way, but helps with the drainage. It's all up to you whether you want a liner or not.
