A:  For PVC piping, 2" is the "nominal" or "named" pipe size. What this means is that a 2" pipe fitting will accept 2" nominal pipe. The actual inside diameter of the hub on these fittings is probably a scoshe greater than 2" and the pipe itself is probably a smidgen under. Various "schedules" of pipe have differing wall thicknesses and therefore the inside diameter of the PIPE will vary, but the outside diameter of a 2" nominal pipe will generally always fit inside the hub of a 2" fitting.

A:  i cut my 4" cast iron stack with a saw saw and metal blade then installed a 4' to 3' rubber boot so that the 4" side fit over my stack and then used 3" pvc pipe then just keep down sizing til i got to 2" i redid all my pluming and all works good and no issues. ohh use that purple glue stuff for pvc on the stack and boot it seals good... in not the brightest but when it come to jerry wigging and saving money im ur man
