Q:How do we cut them?

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your interest in our 12 in. x 12 in. Earth Rubber Deck Tile (6-Pack). We would recommend using a jigsaw to cut these deck tiles as it would be quicker and easier. If you do not own a jigsaw, many of The Home Depot stores have tool rental centers where you could rent one. Check with your local Home Depot to confirm availability. Alternatively, we would suggest using a sharp utility knife with a straight edge ruler. You may need to cut along the same edge multiple times to cut through the deck tile. Hope this helps answer your questions!

A:  Score them with a utility knife and then break them. Cut through the edges first with a hack saw.

A:  Hi Mrsmc, you can use a jigsaw and utility knife. The jigsaw is a better cutting tool and with a right blade you can make a smooth cut. If you have your project mapped out and ready to install except for cuts, you might want to rent a jigsaw. However jigsaws are not very expensive and they are fun to use. This might be the beginning of a lot of fun projects if you purchase one. Enjoy.

A:  You'll definitely need a power saw. I tried a hand saw and I could not pull it back. Then I used a power saw and it was a lot of work. The heat generated by the friction of the blade melted them, they became sticky and melted back together. Had to do a lot of re-cutting.

Q:Can these be used on the ground instead of a deck?

        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your interest in our 12 in. x 12 in. Earth Rubber Deck Tiles. We recommend only using these deck tiles on hard surfaces, such as a balcony, deck, patio or concrete surface. We cannot guarantee the integrated connector clips will hold together if placed on the ground which may be an uneven surface. We hope this helps answer your questions.
