      Answer This Question

A:  Below is some information on cleaning Travertine tile or stone. I do not believe that this product is ph neutral so I would be leary of using based on the below answer. How do you clean natural stone tile? A: Quick Answer Clean natural stone tile with a neutral pH stone cleaner, or a mild dishwashing detergent and warm water. Never use acidic cleaners, such as lemon juice or vinegar, on marble or limestone natural stone tiles as this damages and deteriorates the stone. Continue Reading Keep Learning How does a person make tile shine? How do you clean patio cushions? How do you make an ultrasonic cleaning solution? Full Answer Natural stone tiles are far more porous than normal ceramic tiles. They cannot be cleaned in the same manner or with the same cleaning products as ceramic tiles. Also, where ceramic tiles are strong enough to resist scratching from dirt or dust, natural stone tiles scratch relatively easy. Therefore, they should be routinely dusted with a dry mop or vacuumed, especially before performing a heavy cleaning. For heavy-duty cleaning of natural stone tiles, only use heavy-duty, non-hazardous and non-polluting cleaners and degreasers that have been specially manufactured for use on natural stone. Apply these cleaners to the tile using a sponge or soft mop, and allow them to sit for the amount of time specified by the manufacturer. Gently agitate the liquid after the allotted amount of time. Rinse and dry the tile. Change the rinse water every 100 square feet to prevent dirt from being reapplied to the natural stone tile during the rinsing process. Natural stone wax-finishes can be used to give natural stone tile added protection and shine after cleaning

Q:The water sealant being applied to the brick house drifted to the front porch causing it to look very dull, as well as dirty with boot tread marks.
            by|Sep 24, 2016
            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  It depends. Some of the sealants you can find are lacquer based, some are wax based, some are water based and others are oil based. Each one will utilize a different solvent. Using the wrong solvent may create a bigger problem. I'd recommend you go to the manufacturer's website of the Sealant that was used to see what they recommend for thinning or removal of the product. If you don't find the answer on their website, call their customer service number and speak to a tech. That's what I'd do.
