A:  I’ve used a 6.0 battery and it plenty of battery. 

A:  Any of the M18 batteries will work in this trimmer the size of the battery will determine the run time. For average use an M18 XC5-8 amp hour battery would do fine. 

A:  Battery size depends on how much use you want to get out it per charge.  It you are using it for the average home owner then the xc5 is fine.
