                  by|Dec 19, 2023

A:  I’ve been using the same batteries for 3-4 years now. That being said, if you were using them 8+ hours a day, that would probably chew thru their life quicker, but I can’t imagine as little as 6mo.

A:  Depends on how, and how much, you use them I suppose. I haven't had any problems with any of my M12 or M18 batteries after 5 years of using them in an industrial setting. If one of these batteries goes bad in 6 months, I'd think it was due to abuse.

A:  Probably not the durability. I've burned up 5 or 6 of these doing metal work. Drywall might be ok. If the bit binds shut it down immediately or the motor will start smoking. Free replacement which is nice, but I wish this thing was brushless or had better overload protection.

A:  It can if you have a 1/8" shank adapter but you might be better off with a flap wheel or the dremel style drum sanding arbor. Not really strong enough to sand with a 1" pad. A die grinder would be a better fit

Q:What is the major difference between this m12 rotary tool and the m12 oscillating All Purpose tool? I am looking to make the fine cuts on a laminate flooring install. Which tool would be the better fit?

                        Answer This Question

A:  The rotary tool is more like a Dremel type tool. I'm not familiar with the oscillating tool, but the cutting wheels should cut the laminate. You would need to be careful and exacting when making the cuts.

A:  The oscillating tool moves back-and-forth in a slicing motion while this tool spins fast. each can cut but they do it differently

A:  As the name implies, the Rotary tool is a constant high RPM rotation tool. Think like a dentist drill. And as the name implies, the oscillating tool. Is a tool that constantly moves back and forth. In a high frequency or oscillation? Think like a handsaw. You're rotating back and forth, except it doesn't 1000 times per minute. In a very small Ark.

A:  In nearly every case I can think of, it would be the oscillating tool. The rotary tool is great on small and fine details, but laminate floors normally require larger cuts.
