Q:I'm a first timer at this and everything I've read and learned is that tou should always measure the crown at the bottom (wall side, as opposed to ceiling side). With conventional cutting, that side is up toward saw blade. Using this jig, that side will be down towards the saw table. So how do you accurately line up the blade for cutting?

A:  Always measure and mark at the end of the longest point of the angle and add 1/4 inch. The best method is to use a 2 foot piece of scrap crown as a template to dry fit-check a perfect fit. :-)
