If you are nervous about any damage, you can leave unplugged for an hour or so, then go ahead and plug in as usual. The new models don't have as much risk to damage as older ones when on their side. A:  Anonymous, The good news is that the handles are installed after the refrigerator is unpacked. We do not install the handles on this refrigerator and on many of our other models from our factory for two reasons: 1) Protect the handles when shipping and 2) To allow for additional delivery through smaller spaces. With the handles off, the depth of the appliances is almost 3" less. Take a look below at the depths with and with out the handles. A:  We had this fridge working for about 24 hours. Then it turned to warm air inside although the lights worked and it was still making the normal running noise. It took forever to get someone from Maytag to call me back and set up a date to pick this piece of junk up (Maybe only 4 days, but felt like forever) Now it will be sitting in my kitchen for 11 more days until they come to get it...

I don't want to minimize the reviews that have stated issues, but we do not have any known problems with the compressors on this model. In proportion to the number of these models sold to actual issues is not high. A:  We suggest you consider another manufacturer. Our 18 month old Maytag fridge (purchased new) malfunctioned and Maytag et al refused to help with the $950 repair. The compressor blew. We purchased a Samsung and promised never to purchase another Maytag/Whirlpool/Jenn Air/Amana/couple more.

A:  MrsL, Whirlpool Corporation does own and manufacture products under the Maytag and Whirlpool brands. The retailer determines their own retail pricing and promotional pricing. The Maytag and Whirlpool models have different styling features. One of the more noticeable differences is with the interior lighting.
