A: Hello Peggy and thank you for your question.
The window box has wall mount brackets that use screws to hold it to the wall (vertical surface).
Best wishes on your project.

A: This window box includes 4x Steel Wall Mount Brackets. There are Decorative Brackets that are available as an OPTIONAL accessory however these are purely decorative and are not required for installation (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Nantucket-Decorative-Brackets-in-White-2-Pack-4828-W/203392068). Full installation instructions can be found under the "Product Overview > Info and Guides" section of this product listing by clicking on "Instructions / Assembly".

Answer This Question
A: Yes, the window box can be painted.

A: We do not recommend painting our products. Our products are manufactured from polyethylene, which is an oil based plastic. We have found that paint typically does not adhere to it very well and tends to peel and flake off over time.
That being said, there is a paint on the market that is called “Fusion for Plastic” made by Krylon, which some of our customers have used with success. Please be advised that painted products cannot be returned and that painting the product will also void the 15 year warranty that we are able to offer on any fading or discoloration of the product.

Q:How to attach to stone wall

Answer This Question
A: Due to limitations in the manufacturing process we are unable to manufacture anything longer than a 5 ft. window box the Nantucket style. Many of our customers who have been in need of a longer Window Box have created a "side by side" look, by mounting two smaller window boxes next to each other, which creates a stunning visual. (example photos can be seen on our Help Centre Here: https://mayneinc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/215756978-Can-I-get-a-Fairfield-or-Nantucket-window-box-longer-than-5-feet-). If your heart is not completely set on the Nantucket style, our Yorkshire Window Boxes are available in 2 to 8 feet lengths that are customizable to suit your needs. You can easily cut to fit the Yorkshire Window Boxes to fit any length desired and unlike our Fairfield and Nantucket Models are able to be painted.

A: For the 5 foot box, there is 4 metal brackets that screw into the side of the house. We anchored them through our vinyl siding. It was simple to do with a hand drill and a level. We did not by the separate decorative supports.

A: I hung a 4' window box with just the two supports and it works just fine. Note in the instructions to add some packing peanuts or light weight pumice stone per the directions to reduce the weight of the soil and water. Works just fine, and the 5' box I put up had three supports, both have done quite well, over the past two months.
