A: Our gas smokers are designed only for use with propane gas. We do not sell conversion kits, and we do not recommend modifying them for the conversion to natural gas.
A: That is a manufacturer question. I love my smoker.
A: This propane units are listed with a temp range of 0-375 degrees.
A: We have never been able to get ours above 350. We had a smaller version that we were able to get to 450. Not sure why. We even purchased a separate thermometer to double check the temp. Both were within a couple of degrees. We really like this smoker.
A: Yes.
A: Yes, the shelves can be adjusted to different heights. They slide in and out on hardware that is installed inside the smoker. We only put two racks in to begin with because that is all we are using. If we need them we have the other racks ready to go!
A: The shelves can be set to a variety of levels and spacing as required for your cooking needs.
A: The shelves in the smoker are mounted on rack supports which are fixed inside the smoker. You can, however, remove the smoking racks/shelves to make more room for those bigger/taller items like hams and turkeys and such! This versatility usually helps to accommodate all your cooking needs!
A: Yes, the racks are removable and adjustable.
A: Thank you for your question. Our electric units are listed with a temp range of 100-275 degrees. The propane units are listed with a temp range of 0-375 degrees. However, our electric units have the option of adding the Slow Smoker Attachment which gives you those lower temps needed for items like fish and cheese. It really just depends on what you want to cook with your unit and what temp you'd like to cook at that will determine which unit is best for you. Thank you for choosing Masterbuilt!
A: We can easily regulate the temp on our propane smoker, never used an electric
A: THE GAS SMOKER WILL RETURN TO HEAT MUCH QUICKER THAN AN ELECTRIC UNIT. THIS IS IMPORTANT WHEN KEEPING YOUR WOOD RE-STOKED, AND OR WHEN CHECKING THE TEMPERATURE OF YOUR MEAT BEING SMOKED.

A: Thank you for posting your question. There is no doubt that this is a danger to you and those around the smoker. We would first advise you to perform the soapy-water test on your hose and propane connections to be sure there is no leak(s). Secondly, be sure the venturi and burner are clean and clear - you can do this with a pipe cleaner or similar cleaning tool that can get into the small spaces and remove any build up or blockage. Propane actually attracts insects so a blockage can occur very quickly with these units. A: Thank you for contacting Masterbuilt with your question. With the propane units, your temperatures will not go much below 225 due to the design and heat source. Hopefully, this will work for what you want to do with the salmon. A: open your vents and the valve to low and you should maintain 175 to 190 degrees
A: 225 on low. However just cracking the valve and propane cylinder allows me to start kielbasa at 135 and finish at 165. You must keep the smoker away from a breeze and make sure the flame does not go out.
A: no higher then 225 degrees
A: Thank you for contacting Masterbuilt. Your Masterbuilt XL Propane Gas Smoker has a control knob. Use the control knob as well as your units Air Dampers. This would be very similar to a propane Gas Grill. Many times after adding initial or additional wood chips, your unit will increase in temperatures as the wood starts to burn, this is normal. Simply adjust the air flow to help regulate the temp. Try not to open the door to often, each time the temp is going to drop down and the temp will take about 10min to creep back up, To help guide you, we have provided a link to a video that can offer you some additional guidance.
