Answer This Question

A:  Makita Team is well aware Assembled in the USA does not equal Made in the USA. It takes very little to get the "Assembled..." label, only 30% of the cost of production which could actually refer to the labels and booklets and not the tool itself.

by|Jul 17, 2022

A:  It says assembled in the USA right on the tool. I haven't filled out the warranty yet but am not worried about the quality. That's the reason in my mind to buy a Makita in the first place.

A:  The KP0810 is more of a profession grade planer. It is more powerful at 7.5 amps while the KP0800K is 6.5 amps. The KP0810 can also take bigger bites of wood in one pass. The KP0810 is just made for the professional that is using the tool every day and those who need a planer for dense hardwoods like maple, birch, ect. I own the KP0800K and it has plenty of power and will do most anything the KP0810 will do. It will plane hardwood. It just wont be able to take as big a bite of the wood in one pass.

A:  There are many differences between the Makita 6.5 Amp 3-1/4 in. Corded Planer Kit (KP0800K) and the 3-1/4 in. Corded Planer (KP0810) like the AMPS, size, weight, capacity (depth of cut in single pass), no lead speed (RPM), the KP0800K comes with a case, and the KP0810 has 3 chamfering groove options while the KP0800K only has 1. In general, the KP0800K is preferred for framing applications. The KP0810, with its greater depth and chamfering capacities, is more widely used for woodworking applications.

Q:I am shaping a surfboard which is like a hard foam, and one of the tools needed is a planer would this one work on a project like this?

A:  The only thing I can tell you is to pick one up and give it a try. Its kind of hard to tell you if a tool will be good for use on a project and with materials for which is was never meant and I doubt if many people on here have experience making surf boards. I dont see why it would not work though. If the foam is dense enough. It should work just fine.

A:  Not knowing exactly how hard the surface is, but if it's hard like certain woods, this Makita Planer (KP0800K) should work.

A:  Since we do not know the model number of your specific Planer, we do not have enough information to recommend appropriate accessories. The Makita 3-1/4" Planer Blade Set, Tungsten-Carbide (D-17223) and 3-1/4" High-Speed Steel Planer Blades (D-46230) fit the Makita 6.5-Amp 3-1/4 in. Corded Planer (KP0800K), and select competitor 3-1/4 in. planer models.

A:  They sell replacement blades right online. They stock them at my local home depot so I am able to buy them in the store. Inventory is different from one home depot to another so I would check to see if they have them in your local home depot. If not they can be easily found online.
