A: Ruff up the area where it will be applied / clean,clean,clean - the area where it is to be applied to need to be clean / You can also apply a real thin coat of a silicone adhesive, I did just to be safe

A: Yes it will..... I used it on my top brake light and it worked perfect.......Just make sure it compresses so that there is no gap

Q:I would like to dampen a maple drum set by adhering these strips to the interior of the shells. How permanent is the bond, and would the adhesive leave a residue on the wood if I were to remove them later?

A: I would think so, it works better than regular foam. I use it on my boat under the canvas right behind the snaps to keep water out and it works really well.
