A:  This would be fairly thick for that purpose. It's approx 1/8" thick. You might want to find something a little thinner.

A:  I would have to say no. I don't think the glue on the double sided tape would stand up to opening and closing of the door.

A:  While this seal can be exposed to the elements, we would recommend putting a 1/2"-5/8" backer rod inside of the rubber portion of your current seal to help it maintain its form without compressing at all when the door is shut.
